Privacy Policy

The short version
Manila does not collect personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party trackers. Every PDF and every photo you open stays on your device. We have no server that could receive your documents, because the app does not have one.
Your documents
When you pick a PDF or a photo, Android hands the file to the app for that one action. The file is read into the app's memory, processed there (merging, splitting, compressing, encrypting, redacting, exporting), and the result is written back to your own device. Nothing is uploaded.
The tools that need heavier machinery — page rendering, compression, AES-256 encryption — run inside the app as bundled WebAssembly and JavaScript libraries (pdf.js, pdf-lib, qpdf). They run offline. You can put the phone into airplane mode and every tool still works.
What is stored on your device
- Your language choice and small interface preferences.
- Files you produce, written where you choose to save or share them.
That is all. The app does not create a device id, an installation id, or any other identifier.
Uninstalling the app removes its local storage.
The only two network connections Manila makes
- Google Play Billing. If you buy the PRO subscription, Google processes the purchase. We never see your card, address or Google account details — only the purchase state Google reports to the app.
- A configuration file fetched from
https://hq.bnj.app/api/v1/sync/manila. It carries only the app version, the interface language and the platform ("android"). It carries no identifier, no document, no file name and no personal data. If this request fails, the app uses its built-in defaults and keeps working.
What we do not do
- We do not upload, copy, or read your documents.
- We do not collect names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, contacts, or location.
- We do not use an advertising id. The app does not request the
AD_IDpermission. - We do not show ads.
- We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have any to sell.
Permissions
Manila requests only INTERNET, and uses it for the two connections above. Photos and PDFs are reached through Android's own file picker, so the app never holds a standing storage or camera permission — you choose each file explicitly, one at a time.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf. If you are in the EU/UK and want to exercise a right under the GDPR, write to us and we will explain what we hold — which is nothing.
Children
Manila is a document utility intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts collecting anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here.
